Knighty Knight Bugs is a 1958 Looney Tunes cartoon directed by Friz Freleng and released by Warner Bros. Pictures, in which a medieval Bugs Bunny traded blows with Yosemite Sam (as the Black Knight) and his fire-breathing dragon. It was awarded the 1958 Academy Award for Best Short Subject (Cartoons), leading to Bugs having the Oscar statuette himself in subsequent cartoons.

[edit] Trivia

The only Bugs Bunny cartoon ever to win an Academy Award.

In an example of forced censorship, the scene depicted on this page was heavily edited during the television broadcasts of the 1980's. The scene would start where the Black Knight throws the rope up to the castle's rampart and started climbing. Then it would shift to him sliding down the rope in his underwear. The part where Bugs hits him with the croquet mallet, as he repeated the "proper form," was deleted, due to the belief that such scenes were the cause of violence in children. In later years, the scene would be shown in its entirety. This is on the Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume 4 (uncut and restored).
