KNDU channel 25, is the NBC affiliate serving the Tri-Cities region (Kennewick, Pasco, Richland) and southeast central Washington although KNDU is licensed to Richland.

Providing over 20 hours of local news coverage on their primary channel a week, the station also produces a Digital Local News Channel and NBC Weather Plus affiliate. The channels are available locally over the air on digital channels 25.2 and 25.3, and the Weather Plus affiliate is also available through digital cable on Charter channel 287, streaming online from KNDU.com, and every daily newscast.

Alike to many other stations, they also maintain a website, KNDU.com. The website provides live streaming breaking news, video clips from daily newscasts, news stories from daily newscasts, and additional content provided by many different sources.

Additionally, the station has also been noted for providing live coverage of the hydroplane racing that occurs on the Columbia River every July. The races are now planned to also be streamed online from the station's website [1].

Owned by The KHQ Television Group, the station originally aired on July 1, 1961 as a dual NBC (primary) / ABC (secondard) affiliate until KVEW debuted in 1970 to take the ABC affiliation. KNDU is the satellite sister of KNDO, a NBC affiliate located in Yakima, Washington and KHQ, the NBC affiliate located in Spokane, Washington. The station's transmitter and studios are located in Kennewick, Washington.

[edit] Charitible involvment

KNDU is very active in charity drives in the Tri-Cities area, especially during the winter months. Starting every fall, the station involves itself with the Salvation Army in its annual "Coats for Kids" drive, in which gently used coats are donated to be cleaned and handed out to needy children in the area. And in early December, the station puts on its "Family Food Drive", which aims to gather non-perishable food for donation to the local America's Second Harvest chapter, which then donates the food to area food banks.
