KNBA
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
KNBA is a radio station run by the Koahnic Broadcasting Corporation. It broadcasts on 90.3 FM in Anchorage, Alaska. Its programming is primarily Alaska Native affairs, although it also broadcasts shows a youth media group - the Alaska Teen Media Institute - and rebroadcasts original programming from KSKA.
Originally, the KNBA call letters were licensed to a daytime, "middle of the road" (MOR) radio station in Vallejo, CA, long owned by Louis J. Ripa until his death in January 1992 (the station debuted August 1, 1947, as KGYW). KNBA was assigned to the frequency 1190 KHz (AM) since 1960, and lasted until 1992, when the frequency changed call letters to KXBT, eventually becoming its present call sign, KDYA. 1190's sister-station at 1620 AM is Catholic-talk KDIA, also licensed to Vallejo.
