Hi, are you still working on the Archer Software article? It's extremely short and doesn't seem to contain any info on why the company is notable, so I tagged it for speedy deletion. Apologies if it's a work in progress, you may want to add to it! Idril 16:02, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

  • An Image on page Knaggs was made using software from this company, and I added the short description of the company as a thank you. I'll see if I can expand it soonish. Jeff Knaggs 18:04, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:1891 Census.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:1891 Census.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rory096(block) 18:03, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

Changed to CrownCopyright - from Ancestry.com with permission. (also two others) Jeff Knaggs 22:34, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:GB Christmas Aerogram.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:GB Christmas Aerogram.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ed g2stalk 22:21, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tiscali block

Nice one, the range block you put on was effective. English Wiktioanry will be lacking in decent newbie accounts for at least 24 hours. Sorry for bothering you. --Dangherous 08:40, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Wiktionary User "SimonP"

The Wiktionary user with that name is not I. Thank you very much for noticing this. - SimonP 12:32, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

OK. I have blocked it. It seems to be Wonderfool / Dangherous etc. Jeff Knaggs 14:30, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Abednigo

Hi Knaggs, Abednigo is not Wonderfool. That block was unjust. --Dangherous 11:57, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wiktionary Block

Unfortunately, you have for some reason blocked me under your name "Semperblotto" on wiktionary. Finding no other way to contact you, I've had to come to wikipedia to ask why I am now a "vandal" without explanation. I apologize if you did not like one of my edits, but blocking me was a step too far in my belief. Please explain what crime I've committed. I'm obviously very upset and would like to resolve this issue at once. Wolfdog 15:12, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

  • How can you block me for a whole day and not even check to let me talk? I am not a vandal.

[edit] Blocking of "Mrbowtie"

Hi, please do not assume that my challenge of your block of my IP on Wiktionary is a clever ploy by a vandal. I haven't actually used that account since June, as I only really edit Wikipedia, which, admittedly, I do not do to any great extent. However, when I attempted to edit an article today I discovered it to be blocked. Please assume good faith. Mrbowtie 16:05, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Also, upon closer inspection, I discover myself to be in the same predicament as Wolfdog. Mrbowtie 16:08, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
    • It in fact seems that you have, to some extent, targeted users who share the same ISP [that being Tiscali UK] as a certain "Wonderfool" against whom you appear to have a vendetta. Honourable as it may be, your fight against vandalism should try to avoid too many civilians caught in the crossfire, so to speak. Mrbowtie 00:52, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Barbara Follett.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Barbara Follett.gif. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Chowbok 04:51, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
