Klaus Schrodt (born September 14, 1946 in Dieburg, Germany[2]) is a German aviator who currently races in the Red Bull Air Race World Series. Before joining the series, Schrodt was a former airline pilot and yachtsman.
Schrodt's aviation career has seen him take the German Aerobatic Championship 5-times as well as the 2005 & 2001 Freestyle World Aerobatic Championships.[2]
Schrodt's interest in yachting say him cross the Atlantic ocean on three separate solo trips, the first of which was in 1972.[2] Whilst being passionate for yachting in his youth, Schrodt maintained a strong interest in flying, travelling 30 kilometres (19 miles[3]) each day in order to to clean hangers in exchange for 10 minutes of flying lessons.[2]
After completing flight school, Schrodt became a pilot for Lufthansa at 19 years old.[2][4] Schrodt retired in 2002 to focus on aerobatic flying.[2]
Klaus has over 22,000 flying hours and has flown over 100 different air craft.
