[edit] Trichur Round
MAN! WHY DID U DELET FOTOS I UPLOADED TO KUPAM ARTICLE AND TALIPARAMBA ARTICLE. THOSE ARE AUTHENTIC PICTURES WHY ARE U DOING SO? ANAS anazcp@yahoo.co.in
Welcome to wikipedia!
I cleaned up the article on Trichur Round a bit. Please note our convention that the article tittle is repeated in the first sentance in bold. Please note that I gave a little more context for people who might not know where this feature is located. I also added a "stub tag". These tags are put on short articels, and suggest that otehr editors help out by expanding the article, they also create links that let interested editors find stubs. You can read more about stubs at WP:STUB. You can see the list of approved stub types at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types. Please add a proper stub tag when creating stub articels in future. Thanks again for contributing, and feel free to ask me on my talk page if you have any questions. DES (talk) 15:22, 2 September 2005 (UTC)
Oh, also please note that wikipedia articels are not usually signed by their authors. You can find out who wrote or contributed to any articel by clicking the History tab at the top. An article may well be the product of many many different editors, so no one person should sign it. Do, however, sign comments on talk pages (like this) by typing four tildas (~~~~) whhich leaves your user ID and a timestamp, or an IP address and timestamp for users who are not logged in. DES (talk) 15:27, 2 September 2005 (UTC)
- Note that a "See also" section is normally for links to relevant articles that are not already linked within the body of an article. There is no need to list eithin a see also section articels that are already linked to elsewhere in the same article, particularly when the article is already realatively short, as the Trichur Round articel is. If the articel went on for many screens then collction relvant links in a see also section might make more sense. DES (talk) 16:12, 15 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Rajesh.jpg
I am afraid Wikipedia cannot accept this image (presumedly, a picture of you). Per Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not, you should not upload an image, unless it is going to be used in an article. "Anything else will be deleted." (Wikipedia is not a personal website provider.) - Mike Rosoft 12:38, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
- I am sorry, but the same is true about Image:Indianflag.jpg. As I have said earlier, you are not supposed to upload an image which is only to be used on your user page. Wikipedia already has the flag of India, and your version is not appropriate for an encyclopedia. Not to mention that you did not state where the image has come from; unless you made it yourself, it is in public domain, or its author has permitted it to be used on Wikipedia under the GFDL license, or alternately you can justify its use by fair use, it cannot be used by Wikipedia even if it were encyclopedic. See Wikipedia:Uploading images for more details.
- I also have a question about the images you have uploaded, claiming them to be licensed as "free software". I assume you are in a position to license them as such; you either made them yourself, or their author permitted them to be used in this way. Is this correct? (I am asking you, because Image:Sakthan1.jpg, the first image you have uploaded and put a free software license on was found to have been be taken from another website.) By the way, pictures are supposed to be licensed under GNU Free Documentation License - GFDL, not as software. - Mike Rosoft 13:40, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Duplicate articles
There is no need to create multiple articles with identical contents. This is what redirects are for. Instead, you should create the article only once at its primary title (see Wikipedia:Naming conventions). When you create an article at the new title, with #REDIRECT [[Primary title]] as its only text, that page will automatically send you to the primary title. For example, Prague is the main article about the capital city of Czech Republic, and Praha redirects to Prague. - Mike Rosoft 16:04, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Images
I ask you once again: what is the source of images you keep uploading and marking as "free software". (GNU Free Documentation License is supposed to be used for images and other documents.) Did you make them yourself? Take them from some website? Or where do they come from? (If you do not own copyright to an image, you cannot release it under GFDL or any other license, for that matter.)
Sincerely, Mike Rosoft 12:59, 8 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Rajesh.jpg
I believe Mike Rosoft telling you that Image:Rajesh.jpg cannot be accpeted on Wikipedia is wrong. Many Users have a personal picture on their User page so I believe it is a generally accepted practice. I also assume that you own the copyright to this image and by uploading it to Wikipedia you understand you have to license it under GFDL. I tagged the image GFDL-presumed. You should re-tag as {{GFDL-self}} to make sure you intentions are clear. Re-link the image to you user page. If you truely do not want to use this image anymore, put a comment on my talk page and I will delete it. --Thanks Nv8200p (talk) 17:05, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
- Dear Rajesh, I am sorry for marking your photo for deletion. It seems that I have been interpreting rules at WP:NOT too strictly. With an apology, Mike Rosoft 13:41, 15 September 2005 (UTC).
[edit] we need the bodhdiharma section
-
- Please read my statements on the discussion page. You only recently went into this kalaripayattu debate. Kennethtennyson and JFD and others have been trying to point that the Bodhidharma legend connection is totally unfounded for the last half year. There actually is no debate on the origins of kalaripayattu. Most historians can trace its developement and have found sources citing it. The only debate is the totally unfounded bodhidharma legend which was settled. It is important that we keep that section as all of the websites that this article links to still continues to state the bodhidharma connection and we need to inform the public.Mano1 13:51, 16 September 2005 (UTC)
- I don't know about the monks on the discovery channel, but this I'm actually seeing it from an encyclopedia or journal article section as this is considered to be a free encyclopedia. Although the Shaolin monks have a history of attributing everything to Bodhdiharma - whether or not what they attribute is true. The first references to him actually stated that he was central asian or persian. However, the shaolin monks are adamant in stateing that their legends state clearly that began the meditative exercises after meditating in a cave in China with no reference to bringing it to China from India.
- Regardless, people come to wikipedia for encyclopedic reference and as a historian and as an encyclopedia, it is important for us to present information to educate the public and to clear up rumors and urban legends, especially during the age of the internet. I really don't see how adding that section will change the aesthetics of the page. It's just another interesting section to read, it's short, and it directly clears up any confusion as the websites without having to search for another webpage. Mano1 14:23, 16 September 2005 (UTC)
-
- Hmmm.... I still don't see how that ruins anything. It's just another subject relating to kalaripayattu. How about this. Let's compromise. I'll reword the sections so that everything will flow well.Mano1 14:52, 16 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] difficult situation
- "Hello Manu,
It would be better you shorten your section regarding the debate, from the main page. A topic Like Kalaripayattu means - a lot to lots of people. But just think we all reade the topic of Kalari first to know about the art, then we go for looking the history, then we go for looking the conflits of the subject if there is one (Usually there will be debate in history of any subjects).
- When I first came through the wikipedian subject on Kalari, I was really sad to see the details, it was more on debate that the Kalaripayattu itself (am I correct, please chech the articles dated before 15th). As you can see from my user page Eventhoug I was born in Palakkad, I was in Kannur for 30 years, As you know most of the Kannurian practices Kalaripayattu, its in there blood. So as a KalariP practitioner I taught of keeping the page more relevent to the subject 'kalari payattu' by adding more details and pictures on the subjects to make it understandable. and moved the disputed section to another part."
== Rajesh, I'm sorry to hear that you are saddened about the debate. I know what it must be like to have something that you practice as a martial art debated about, but it occurs in every subject of history. By hiding it or not discussing it, it only contributes to speculation and misinformation.
But if you go to almost all of the kalaripayattu websites, the debate is generated by the kalaripayattu websites themselves and also the people in the past on wikipedia who were pushing the false bodhidharma connection. This is very similar to the Taj Mahal article where there was this huge discussion early on about the Taj Mahal being a Hindu temple (followers of P.N. Oak) and finally after debate, everyone agreed that it was not considered standard historical interpretation and had a small section about it. The people pushing the taj mahal Hindu connection didn't like that section but it was a compromise everyone agreed upon.
As to shortening my paragraph, it seems a little clearer from reading your letter that you perhaps were originally diverting the debate section to try and avoid a discussoin of it? I know that it might be disheartening, but I've compromised on my end, got rid of the whole section on Bodhidharma and kalaripayattu, and then shortened the whole section into a tiny paragraph. If I shorten it anymore it becomes meaningless and only hides the true debate. Perhaps a compromise on your end is necessary.
This discussion is necessary, I think, as there are a lot of people running around citing different versions of kalaripayattu history that are somewhat fanciful. I even went to one website of a supposed trainer in kalaripayattu who stated that Bodhidharma learned the northern and southern styles and all the other styles, went on a boat and then taught it to the indonesians, the southeast asians, the chinese and japanese, and that it is the mother of all martial arts. (Oh, by the way, I'm putting our discussion on the discussion page so others can read it in case questions pop up.)Mano1 17:18, 16 September 2005 (UTC)

Great work. Appreciate your efforts to bring a number of Kerala cultural subjects to Wiki. I especially liked your piece on Muthappan, who, though nowhere near as well known as Ayyappan, is just as egaliterian a God.

Hi Rajesh,
Sorry to reply so late. Actually, I belong to "left hand" group of saliya or chaliya, a weaver's caste. One of the stories for our migration to Northern Kasaragod and to Mangalore was that we were expelled by a Chirakkal king(of course, the story is laden with folklore of our greatness. My mother tongue is Malayalam, however, I speak Kannada at home. Please let me know if your classmate could find something about my community people regarding this event.

Hi, just noticed that you had added Category:Kerala to the article. A more appropriate category would be Category:Malayali people. You may want to replace the Kerala category and Indian people category with the Malayali people category. --Gurubrahma 17:11, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Pulikkanny
Do you know if the current contents of the article are true ? The original version was a fake one and I had deleted most of it. Tintin 15:48, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
- The original version said things like this - It is famous for village football league where six teams are fiercely competing for the league cup. It is famouse tourist attraction which attract tourists as far as france and north africa. How many people in Kerala know about this 'renowned tourist attraction' ? It advised to be careful for coming as early to get the best spot to watch especially for the matches of MILANO JUNIORS' the champion club of Pulikkanny when start playrs like JOSESirajZubair and Musthafa mosquito all playing).
- Do you mean to say that this was a serious encyclopaediac entry ? thanks, Tintin 10:52, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
- I was not accusing you at all - and never would, as you are an experienced user. The fake stuff was added by an IP editor. Sorry if my question sounded otherwise. Since you have said that you are living Trchur, I was just trying to confirm that the current data (some of which was added by the IPs 213.42.2.11 and 213.42.2.28) is correct. Hi Rajesh, No need to put all the language scripts in the articles. In articles of places of Kerala Malayalam is enough. By adding more languages the article becomes less readable.--Raghu 05:47, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi again, The images you uploaded today are really nice. I have kept one of them as my wallpaper :-) Can you please upload these images in the wikipedia commons, because then other language wikipedis can also use them.--Raghu 14:27, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Is the date mentioned the festival dates for this year (2006)?
Is there a need to mention it?Jisha C J 07:56, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Saree image
Hi Rajesh. I notice that you've added a pleasant image of a saree-clad Malayali woman to Kerala. I've a small issue there. As far as I know, Malayali women normally wear the saree on their left-side shoulders. Do they not? If they do, wouldn't it be better to upload a more representative image, particularly in a main article? The current image can also be in the database for use in other articles. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 13:16, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Kannur
Hi,
From Kannur -> Kannur district -> Kannur city. Isnt it getting more complex? Cant all that be in one page, I mean all the important points in one and avoid the increase in number of pages and redirects? So that all the important information is found in one page and not in different ones? What do you say? Jisha C J 13:39, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
- Why not title it as neighbourhoods or suroundings and try to fill in details from the existing district/city pages?Jisha C J 13:53, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
- I meant you can add all the details in one page it itself and under broad headers tittled Kannur city/Kannur town/Kannur town and mentioning what is situated where (eg;alukkas showroom is in city/or distict and so on).
If people search for city as such why not a simple redirect from the header to the main articles so that the reader can read about all the places of interest at one page rather than being being distributed?
What do you say? Jisha C J 14:10, 8 February 2006 (UTC) ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hi, I guess this format looks better and less confusing. Hai Rajesh, This is regarding some of the pictures you have uploaded like the [1] and [2]. I guess these come from the websites [3] and [4]. The images available in most of the websites on the net are not licenced under GNU Free Documentation License, so can't be used in Wikipedia without their permission. regards. --Raghu 14:56, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
They may have to be tagged with a different licence tag. Maybe copyrighted or promotional.--Raghu 04:24, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
- Hai Rajesh, I read your message. As of now I don't have a digicam, but I plan to buy one soon. So after that when I go home I will defenitely take the pictures of Kota and other places in Palakkad. If you can scan and upload the images taken by you then it will be fine. Meanwhile i will find out whether the current images can be used under the WP:Fair use category and with what license those pictures are to be tagged. thanks --Raghu 08:26, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
- Hai Rajesh, getting back on my concerns regarding some of the images uploaded by you. I read the Wikipedia:Fair use page and I am afraid that many of the images that you got from the net like all the Kalarippayattu pics and the ones that I mentioned earlier can't be used under the Fair use clause. Can you please tag them all such images that you got from the net as copyrighted or can you contact some administrator regarding this. thanks --Raghu 15:07, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Some issues in the writeups
Hi, Found out some issues in the writeup (I dont know whether you started it)with Nayars and Nambiars etc. You have done a good job by putting stuff in the Wiki. I might need to make some corrections.
- Ambalavasi Nambiars or Nambishans as they are known in Central kerala are not Nayars. They are from a class called as Ambalavasi. They Have Poonool and Do upanayanam and Shodasha Kriyakal. Where as other Nambiyars does not perform this. They are also known by the name of "Poovan as per chakyar in koothu" their main job is to make garlands for the deity. Other members of ambalavasi community is Poduval, Warrier, Chakyar, Marar etc... Apart from Nambishan and Chakyar others dont have Poonol,
- Then Nayars as kshatriya is questionable. I am not Getting into the Issue, But Varma's are not Nayars. Some Nayars may cary "Varma" surname because of Marriage but Varma is Kshatriya. There are 3 type of Kshatriyas in Kerala.
- Kshatriyas with Poonol (Eg. Perumpadapu Swaroopam,Poonjar,Kilimanur etc...) use Thampuran as their Surname are the rulers.
- Thirumulpad (Normally they Carry Surname Thirupad but now use Varma as their Surname)- They dont have Ruling Power.
- Sambandham Kshatriya (They Normally Use Thampan, Eradi etc in their surnames) -They dont have poonol. Examples are Zamorin, Venad Swaroopam, Nilambur Thampan etc... They have 16 days of pollution rather than 12 for the above 2 sub-types. For Venad Swaroopam Upanayanam is done for the eldest member before he takes over the throne. This process of Doing upanayanam is called as Go Garbham.
[edit] Palm wine/Toddy
Hello. Just noticed the merge over to toddy from palm wine. Unfortunately, I think the move just confuses the whole issue. There are two distinct beverages known as toddy: hot toddy and palm wine. In my opinion, the pages should be located there. The information currently at toddy should be moved between the two, and toddy itself should become a disambiguation page. I wanted to run it by you before I moved things around again. — BrianSmithson 13:08, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
Just noticed that the spelling of Kallu in Malayalam is wrong on that page.. it reads 'Kalla'. Shijaz 17:48, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Linking
Hi, Rajesh. I see that you relinked some of the terms I had unlinked in various articles. The issue here is that per Wikipedia guidelines, you're only supposed to link to a term the first time it occurs in the article after the lead paragraph. It gets difficult to maintain an article when every instance of India or toddy is linked. If you want to link them all, I won't fight you. But I thought you might be interested in the consensus other editors have reached. See you around! — BrianSmithson 13:06, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
- No problem. I disagree, but like I said, it's not so important as to be worth fighting over it. :) Happy editing! — BrianSmithson 14:41, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Sadhya.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Sadhya.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. [edit] Lets bring all Kerala Wikipedians under one list
Hello! I've created a template Template:User KERALA wiki as well as a category, Category:Kerala_Wikipedians in an effort to bring together all the Kerala Wikipedians. I believe there are no such existing categories. So, please add either the template (which will automatically add the category) or the category to your userpage. Thanks! thunderboltz 06:01, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:UthrathatiVallamkali.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:UthrathatiVallamkali.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an arguement why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. howcheng {chat} 23:18, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Seetakundu.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Seetakundu.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 82.83.65.227 09:46, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Kasaragod articles
Kjrajesh,
When I came across the article in question all the information in it was also in the Kasaragod district article's section about the same topic. I haven't had a chance to review the article recently to see if that's still the case, but you can debate the deletion on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Places of interest in Kasaragod district for at least 5 days before an administrator makes a decision. So far, it seems that the general concensus on the AfD page is to merge the article in question into the Kasaragod district article. I hope this information helps.

[edit] Kalari
Hi Kjrajesh, I know what you are saying, but articles should advertise their subject, make it more compelling to read (more decorations that invoke a certain mindset) - if someone sees a pictures from a Jackie Chan movie with it in, they think 'wow it was in a Jackie Chan movie!?', and if people see yogic maps like the chakra one, they immediatly think 'wow this is related to yoga?!'. Also, as a martial artist, when looking for information in an article, one of the first things people like to know is the internal theory - such as prana/kundalini/pranayama/nadis/marma points, etc - all that stuff was removed. According to wiki policy, featured articles, as I hop Kalari will one day be must be comprehensive, and not leave out any major aspect - yet none of this internal theory has been adressed - its like leaving the concept of Chi, acupuncture points, and Qigong out of Kung Fu... Vastu 13:18, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks Rajesh - I think if it is featured, and put on the main page of wikipedia, that will perhaps increase its exposure quite a bit, as thousands view that page every day - also as far as im aware, there are no featured martial arts articles yet. :-) Vastu 14:04, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Awards for Kathakali artistes
Hi. I've just recently categorized Awards for Kathakali artistes which you created a while back. I'm not writing to stress that you should categorize stuff (although maybe I should!) but because I'm worried that the title of the article is wrong. When I see this title, I expect to get a list of different awards whereas this page is a list of different recipients of a single award. If that is the case, it would be nice if you can actually include the name of that award, some basic info like who gives it out and if you could move the page to a more suitable name. Thanks for your help. Pascal.Tesson 18:13, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Kuzhal
Hello, I need help with the Kuzhal article. From its Dravidian root a kuzhal should be a flute (like South Indian venu or Tamil pullanguzhal, or north Indian bansuri), not an oboe. But the photo at Kuzhal shows oboes, not flutes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Pancharimelam.jpg Are these not nagaswaram in the photo? (Though with brass bells instead of wood)? Hope you can help clarify this. Badagnani 14:37, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
Well, if so, then I have some questions for you: 1) why does the article say the instrument is "like Carnatic flute" when it is not like a Carnatic flute? It looks like a nagaswaram or a large shehnai, both of which are vertical double-reed oboes, not horizontal flutes. 2) Also, what is the relationship between nagaswaram and kuzhal? Are they almost the same, just a different name between Tamil and Malayalam? Thank you for your answers. Badagnani 06:35, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
Thank you, it's better now. But Panchavadyam doesn't mention the kuzhal as one of the instruments. Badagnani 07:00, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I don't think so
Hi Rajesh,The comments you left on my talkpage have a few wrong notions, I am afraid. Firstly, I am not Kuttan as you put it. Secondly, there is no need of me adding these topics. Those who have no better business have done it (for whom, I don't know). Thirdly, Encyclopedia is not at all for what you suggest it is for. You are exactly sticking to what Wiki is not. Check this page [[6]]. If you want to get the meaning(s) of terms, we have other sources like Wiktionary. Would you care to add Poola Chettan or Rubber Chetan (as the farmers from the southern Kerala are known in hilly areas of Calicut and in Wayanat) as well? Kuntan 06:55, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
I am sure you did that deprodding by a mistake. I myself committed such a mistake the other day about the only article I wrote from scratch. Follow my edits and make your comments here.Kuntan 06:59, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

As a fellow Keralite, your edits regarding Kerala are much appreciated. Keep up the good work.
[edit] WP:CUTPASTE
Hello Rajesh! I noticed you moved Elephants of Kerala to Elephants in Kerala culture by copy pasting the article. Though the end result in fine, this results in us losing the history of the article. The contributions of other people who worked on it is not copied to the history of the new article. This would be a violation of the attribution requirements of the license under which Wikipedia works. I've left a note asking an admin to fix it. In future, please use the Move button to move pages. That'll help keep the history intact. Reagards, -- thunderboltz(Deepu) 06:34, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- Only administrators can fix a copy pasted move. I've asked Sundar to take a look. By the way, it would be nice if you used the ~~~~ to sign comments, instead of writing your name. ~~~~ automagically converts into a link to youe userpage on saving. See WP:SIG if you need help.-- thunderboltz(Deepu) 06:55, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Sakthanthampuran.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Sakthanthampuran.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. thunderboltz(Deepu) 10:52, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Rajesh, if there is more vandalism on your userpage, you can request to have it semi-protected at WP:RFPP. Then no new accounts will be able to edit it.--thunderboltz(Deepu) 14:36, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Marmam
I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Marmam, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at Talk:Marmam. If you remove the {{dated prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.Kundan After Sundown 10:00, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A doubt...?
Please see this ![9]utcursch will say that all the persons listed here are notable ....except one .... ? I know it very well...! But references are references..! An editor must not be biased...!We all know P. K. Manthri is highly notable. Can he show any sort of online news report or online reference about P. K. Manthri to prove his notability...? Now I think they are not against the article. They are against me...? Who can judge a Malayali Cartoonist...? We malayalees or a person outside the state...? All my contributins are art-literature related subjects. Wherever an art show is conducted I will be there. Somebody is trying to teach me art...! Here some fellows are even ready to teach Kurbana to Marpappa. In Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Kerala these Kerala Wikies User:Raghu.kuttan User:Kjrajesh User:Devapriya argued that S. Jithesh is notable. But utcursch is sticking on his Mudanthan nyayams. WP:V of the article was already extablished by User:TruthbringerToronto in the 2nd AfD. [edit] Old image uploads
Hi Kjrasjesh. I noticed that a number of images you uploaded a year or so ago were taken from external sites. A lot of new users make the mistake of taking photos from elsewhere on the internet and assuming Wikipedia can use them, but in fact we can't (and from the number of great self-taken images you've uploaded recently it looks like you've grown much more familiar with our policy in this regard). Could you take a look through your old uploads and let me know if there are any others that might be copied? Thanks a bunch, --RobthTalk 05:10, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting back to me about it. Do you know which pictures you might have re-uploaded in that way? We don't know that the other users who originally uploaded them were following copyright, so its important to check and see if they came from other sites. --RobthTalk 06:11, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- For the old ones that you took, just go through and make sure the tag is {{GFDL-self}}. For ones that weren't yours originally, we do need to know where they originally came from. If they were taken by another wikipedia user, all you need to do is give them credit on the image page, but if they were copied from an outside site by another user, or if we can't figure out where they came from, they will have to be deleted, as we can't be sure, and we do need to give the creator attribution under the GFDL. --RobthTalk 06:27, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Neduvati.jpg
Hi, I saw that the image Neduvati.jpg (now on Commons) was originally uploaded by you. If you took the photo yourself and released it under the GFDL, you should go to the image description pag, remove the no-source tag, and add that you took the photo yourself. Thanks. [edit] Malayalam Wikipedia - Pls Review. Again :-)
Dear Rajesh,
First of all, great work, and here is a barnstar for your contributions.
I've been greatly amused by your contributions, and I started to translate many of your articles to Malayalam Wikipedia.(http://ml.wikipedia.org) I guess I translated around 160 articles from you so far.(http://ml.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Simynazareth/articles_1), and (http://ml.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Simynazareth/articles_2).
Would it be possible for you to start contributing to malayalam wikipedia as well? It would be good if you could review the translations, and add bits and pieces..
Great Work, and please continue your good efforts.

[edit] License tagging for Image:Vadakumnathan-three.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Vadakumnathan-three.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 09:09, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Kerala Portal
Hello Rajesh! Thanks for adding the Munnar picture to the portal. It is now listed under the list of selected pictures. Though adding pictures randomly is fine, it is better if we take a more democratic approach and see if everybody agrees to have the image on the portal. We have a process just for that, where you can list nice images that meet these requirements at Portal:Kerala/Selected picture candidates. If you have any doubts, please dont hesitate to ask on my talk page. By the way, This talk page is becoming very long. Please consider archiving.--thunderboltz(Deepu) 15:58, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Nanostubs
May I ask that you not post articles that are not only lacking content but are mere copies of one another? I refer to the rash of articles you;re posting on those towns in Kerala that don't go beyond an introductory sentence. These sorts of tiny articles create a heck of a cleanup task for other editors. Thanks. :) - Lucky 6.9 07:12, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Verumkai.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Verumkai.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
