KJMM (105.3) is an Urban Contemporary station serving the Greater Tulsa area. It is owned by Perry Broadcasting and is licensed to Bixby, Oklahoma.

[edit] History

KJMM signed on the air in 1994 as the Urban Contemporary-formatted station for Tulsa. It was one of three original Urban stations launched with the help of Perry Broadcasting, an African-American-based media company under the "Power Jammin'" network (KVSP in Oklahoma City and KJMZ in Lawton are the other two) at a time when the owner believed the African-American community was underserved in the radio media. Nevertheless, the station played Hip Hop, R&B, Rap and Gospel over the years and was originally called Fresh Jamz 105. In 2004, KJMM changed its name to 105.3 K-Jamz, began carrying the Doug Banks Morning Show -- while sending the previously-aired Tom Joyner Morning Show to sister station KGTO, an Urban AC station under ABC Radio's "The Touch" network.
