Not much is given about Kivar such as his origins. Kivar decided to take over the government of Antar and started a revolution which killed many people. He succeeded in taking over and killing the former king and assumed control. Little did he realize Zan (Max Evans) and the rest of the "four" had clones and were sent to Earth.

Kivar sent some of his men who called themselves the "skins" led by his trustful follower Nicholas years later in order to kill them seeing as they were a threat to his rule even though the "four" didn't know who Kivar was or what happened. At the conference, which had representatives from the neighboring planets of Antar, Kivar had Nicholas fill his seat and offered Max to assume the title of king only in name, bring peace to the war between those planets and return of the "granolith." After Max said no, Nicholas the last of the "skins" returned to Antar.

Kivar decided to take possession of a body a year later and try to convince Vilandra (Isabel) to come with him back to Antar. When Michael and Max learned that this man was Kivar they followed Isabel to her honeymoon and attempted to kill him. After a confrontation with him, Kivar left Earth, Isabel, and the body of the man he had come to posses and returned to Antar. He is not seen for the rest of the series. Max went home and took back the throne.
