The Kingdom of Talossa is a micronation founded on December 26, 1979 by a 12-year-old Robert Ben Madison, shortly after the death of his mother. It was kept as a fictional nation and not much happened there, except the 1980 creation of the Talossan language, until 1981, when Madison told all about it to his Milwaukee high school. The idea proved to be an immediate success, and Robert co-founded the League of Seccionist States (a "United Nations" of micronationalism) in which Madison was the first Secretary-General. The other two nations that signed that treaty were the Kingdom of Thord and the Imperial Jahn Empire. The next major event in Talossa's history was the so-called "Cone Wars", a micronational "war" with the Glib Room Empire, a nation that didn't join the League. The war ended when Robert tattle-taled to his father about the spray painting on their garage that Gary Cone, the founder and only citizen of the Glib Room Empire, was doing. Gary eventually had to scrub it off.

In 1987, the League of Seccionist States wasn't doing too good. The Imperial Jahn Empire was gone, and the Kingdom of Thord remained inactive. That may be the reason behind King Rob's abdication in favor of King (Queen) Florence I, who later abdicated in favor of King Robert II, who also abdicated. For about a year their was no ruler. Then, Robert Madison was chosen. In 1996, along with Porto Claro, the League was refounded.

But then, in 2004, Robert was accused by some of Talossa's members of treason, among other charges. Led by Chris Gruber, they promptly seceded and founded their own Republic of Talossa. Now the Kingdom has only 11 members, which doesn't include King Robert, because he abdicated and renounced his citizenship in favor of the current ruler, Robert's son King Louis I, in August 2005.

[edit] Trivia

  • The province of Florencia was named after former Ruler Florence I.
  • In Finnish, Talossa means "inside the house. Since Talossa was originally only Madison's room, that name fits perfectly.
