Talk:Kitfo
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Someone had posted a recipe in the article. I've removed it, because 1. Wikipedia is not a cookbook (especially where raw/undercooked meat is concerned), and 2. I'm not even sure it is correct (it doesn't mention the marinating process, nor the actual use of mitmita). I've also reworded one statement, from "it is the traditional dish of Ethiopia" to "it is a traditional dish." Many would counter that doro wat is the traditional dish. I've moved the links to Cuisine of Ethiopia and Cuisine of Eritrea from the "See also" section up into the text itself. Finally, I removed from "See also" the link to ghee, because it isn't especially relevant (though it might be in an article about niter kibbeh). -- Gyrofrog (talk) 03:56, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
The following is the recipe I removed from the article.
To Make Kitfo for 4 people: Melt 1 oz. Butter in a 9-inch skillet Add 1/4 tsp. Cayenne Pepper, 1/4 tsp. Chili Pepper and 1/2 tsp. Salt Mix thoroughly with 3/4 lb. freshly ground lean beef. Serve immediately, and do not cook. However, if you would rather to have it cooked, heat on low for five minutes, and stir constantly.
