Kitauonuma District, Niigata

Kitauonuma (北魚沼郡; -gun) is a district located in Niigata, Japan.

As of April 1, 2005, the district has an estimated population of 5,426. The total area is now 50.03 km².

In 1954, areas now covering Ojiya merged and gained city status. After the municipalities of Horinouchi, Koide, Yunotani, Hirokami, Sumon, and Irihirose merged to create the city of Uonuma on November 1, 2004, the village of Kawaguchi is the only municipality left in the district..

There is only one town left in the district.
