Kitaakita, Akita

Kitaakita (北秋田市; kitaakita-shi) is a city located in Akita, Japan.

The city was founded on March 22, 2005 from the merger of the former towns of Aikawa, Ani, Moriyoshi, and Takanosu, all from Kitaakita District.

As of March 2005, the city has an estimated population of 40,789 and a density of 35.39 persons per km². The total area is 1152.57 km².
