[edit] History
[edit] 1796 - 1832
Kit O'Brady was born in 1796, in Kilkenny, Ireland. He grew up to be a big gambler and successful businessman. As a consequence of trying to fix a race in 1832, O'Brady was lynched and killed, thereby discovering his status as an Immortal. Sometime thereafter, he met Rory Colhoun, who became his teacher. Uniquely among Immortals, O'Brady has the inconvenient trait of sneezing when he senses the presence of another Immortal.
[edit] 1888
In 1888 San Francisco, Kit O'Brady is running a saloon and casino which he named the "Double Eagle." When Duncan MacLeod, a great friend of his, visits O'Brady at the Double Eagle, they sense the presence of another Immortal, Amanda. Amanda meets Kit O'Brady; they talk and play a game of poker wherein O'Brady loses the game, the Double Eagle, and his lucky gold coin. O'Brady is broke and resents Amanda, feeling she cheated at the game. Returning to the saloon later, he is further incensed to discover Amanda has changee the name of the saloon to the "Queen of Spades".
Kit's luck does get a little better where he wins a ticket on a steamer boat trip to Alaska. The Queen of Spades catches on fire and is burned to the ground. Amanda blames Kit for burning down the saloon, not knowing Kit was on a steamer at the time.
[edit] 1995
In 1995, O'Brady is in Macao playing a game of mahjong. He wins $65.000, of which he owes $200.000 to a loan shark. He and the loan shard meet at the end of the game, and the loan shark shoots O'Brady. O'Brady nonetheless escapes with the money.
O'Brady goes to the Seacouver to visit Duncan MacLeod, and the two make plans to go out to eat. As soon as they get to the dojo, they sense the presence of an Immortal, Richie Ryan. MacLeod goes up to the loft and sees Amanda there; he is worried about O'Brady's presence downstairs, fearing if Amanda and Kit see each other, they will fight.
O'Brady goes to the racetrack, sees a horse he likes, and convinces Duncan to buy a share of the racehorse. The horse's name is Double Eagle. Duncan decides later on to sell his share of the horse to Amanda, so that way she and Kit won't kill each other because of their grudge. Kit and Amanda argue over about the Double Eagle saloon and the argument deteriorates into a swordfight. Duncan arrives in time to show Amanda an old newspaper article about the boat Kit was on at the time of the saloon burning down in 1888. Kit and Amanda make up. Kit plays a game of cards with Amanda and wins her share of the horse.
