Made in inkscape by tracing over the city's symbol as found on the city website. The five petals of the flower represent the five towns (Kokura, Moji, Tobata, Yahata and Wakamatsu) which came together to create Kitakyushu in 1963. The design in the centre is the kanji character 北 "kita" meaning North, as found in the city's name, 北九州 .
