i am just wondering what was wrong with the "previous elected officials/ExComs" contribution that it had to be removed? MK.
Please see the talk page on the IAPSS page for my reasoning. It can be discussed there, if you prefer.
i didnt see the explanation before, was just curious & have no intentions to mess up with your "authority". But still (i guess IAPSS in me is still living somewhere deep inside...): (1) why does IAPSS have to be like other associations on wikipedia if it aint in real life? the beauty of this webpage is that it offers you the possibility for presentation that doesnt have to follow patterns/rules strictly set down, but the opportunity to develop your on according to the needs/wishes of the contributing community (2) true, external links but this is not the justification to exclude them. I somebody is interested in history it is sometimes much easier to provide direct links... even many iapss memebers dont know there is such a section as history. If there is a link to the CITY OF LJUBLJANA or AUSTRALIA why wouldnt there be one to the association/excom that denoted the life of the organization... (3) inconsistent? its hard to be consistent if the structure has been/is changing. But the people/excoms who have worked for the association are integral part of its history as well, a time line of its own. Sad or not sad but this organization is still much more defined by people than by its own rules (this could be discussed tho...). So if it is inconsistent you can make it more consistent. Just deleting is a but drastic...
anyway man, do as you wish. cheers.
It's not for me to do as I wish. Like you say, Wikipedia has many benefits over a traditional website but there are, unfortunately, still rules to be followed in terms of style and layout.
If you think the history of IAPSS is worth documenting in longer format then lets do that - but I don't think it should be on the IAPSS page. Why not make a new page 'History of IAPSS' which would be much longer in terms of the institutional history (I only put in a couple of sentences) and include all the ExCom, SupCom, DisCom and EB representatives from each year. We could link it from the main page and really give a background to the information on the front page.
What do you think?
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:IAPSS Logo.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:IAPSS Logo.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 18:27, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
