Kissing the War Goodbye is a photograph by Victor Jorgensen taken in Times Square on V-J Day, August 15, 1945. The photograph depicts the same scene, a United States Navy seaman passionately kissing a nurse, as Alfred Eisenstaedt's better known photograph for Life magazine. By contrast, the Jorgensen photograph shows less of Time Square in the background and does not show the full body of the sailor and nurse.
