Kirk Patrick Snyder (born June 5, 1983 in Los Angeles, California) is an American professional basketball player in the NBA. He grew up in Upland, California.
Snyder spent his college career at Nevada. In 2004, he lead the Wolf Pack to its first Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament. During that trip, they beat No.2 seed Gonzaga and No.7 seed Michigan State, but lost in the third round to eventual national runner-up and No.3 Georgia Tech. In 2005, Nevada made it back to the NCAA past the 1st round by beating Texas, but later losing to No.1 Illinois.
He was drafted in the first round (16th overall) of the 2004 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz. After one season, he was traded to the New Orleans Hornets as part of the largest trade in NBA history.
On February 4, 2006, he delivered one of the most electrifying dunks in NBA history. On a fastbreak against the Lakers, guard Speedy Claxton threw Snyder a pass and he took off, dunking on Lakers rookie guard Von Wafer.[citation needed]
Kirk Snyder was traded to the New Orleans Hornets, where he became a starter. He scored a career high of 28 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves. After a decent year playing with the Hornets, Snyder was traded to the Houston Rockets for a 2008 2nd round draft pick and cash considerations.[1]
