[edit] Faith Kinkel / née Zuranski
Is née Zuranski the jewish name of Faith Kinkel? Not exactly sure why it is listed there, most google links just point back to this wiki article. Perhaps if it is really necessary to the article we should explain in the parentheses what it is. --Fxer 02:07, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Very POV
The details about Jake Ryker read like an NRA ad. Wouldn't anyone have recognized that the guy was reloading, irrespective of NRA training? The references clearly have an agenda. I'd like to see more facts and background, and less promotional spin.--RattBoy 01:18, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
I edited the article to remove the spin, which I also felt was highly biased. I'm still not sure if so much of the article should be devoted to Jake Ryker. His section was added recently; before that, no mention of him was made. The links to conservative commentary are also recent additions, made by the same person who added Jake. Therefore, I think it's safe to say that their sole purpose was to spin the article and promote the NRA. Jake certainly was brave, but is it right to turn the deaths and injuries of these children into an NRA ad?
I agree that it is a disgusting thing to use blood for political purpose (this applys to both sides) but I would like to state that he could have recognized the sound and realized it before he saw Kip attempt to reload. Xfuture1000 03:34, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
At the very least there ought to be a reference to said citation: a verification that Ryker took these supposed classes, as well as a verification that the NRA said these things. The whole thing does smack of NNPOV though, as it stands, or even with these references. Any moron who's watched a smidgen of American television knows when someone is reloading a handgun. Please. Umm there is no agenda in it. Quite some time ago I heavily editted this article, and the NRA and Jake Ryker sentence was already in there, I simply moved it into trivia. I don't think it is POV. It is mentioning the fact that the shooting was quoted as being stopped by someone with NRA training. The NRA would have originally used this with an agenda, but in Wikipedia it is simply being used as a reference.
But true, I do personally agree that it doesn't take much skill or training to know what an empty gun sounds like. REN 11:34, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Kip Kinkel As A Friend
I have known kip for about two and a half years. I met him after his sentencing. There is a lot of inaccurate information spread all over whether on wikipdia or cnn or frontline, for that matter. Because it was one of the first highly documented school shootings/murders there was a lot of vulnerability on viewers part. It is time to put some pieces back together because while this story may be 'old' to others it is a story that kip must live with each day. Educate yourself. I would say the most accurate webpage/documentary to date would be frontlines 'killer at thurston high'. Also kip was on Prozac not luvox and he was also prescribed ritalin for ADHD. He did not taper off of prozac he immediately stopped taking it once the doctor agreed he seemed to be 'doing better' also Dr.hicks (his psych. prior to the crimes) never conducted an EEG, which was later done revealing 'wholes' and numb parts of kips brain.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by IcarusBee (talk • contribs) 18:53, 9 July 2006.
[edit] Merged
I merged "Kip Kinkle" here. See http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Kip_Kinkle&action=history for the history. WhisperToMe 04:22, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Motivation
Does anyone know about this? Schprunkel 20:09, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Poorly written
This article is very poorly written. I do not know much about Kip, nor do I care to learn so that I can edit the article, so it would be great if someone could write an unbiased, well-written encyclopedia entry for Kip. The "Good Upbringing" section is especially horrible. Jyroberson 19:18, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Kip Kinkel a Victim of Child Abuse
It is fairly well known to those that have researched his case (such as I have), that Kip Kinkel was a victim of mental and emotional abuse from his parents... they were constantly pushing him to succeed and were very hard on him (to say the least) when he failed to live up to their expectations. In addition to this, his parents were constantly comparing him to his "Perfect" sister, Kristin (in my humble opinion, these actions probably worsened Kip's mental and emotional problems), so I added him to Wikipedia's list of Child Abuse Victims. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Garr1984 (talk • contribs) 16:43, 3 February 2007 (UTC).
- You misspelled "category," so it didn't get added. Fixed that, though. Albino Bebop 01:40, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- According to the this record, Kip denied being physically abused, but I cannot find any sources about mental abuse. So this issue is still in question. Anyone find a printed book about it? Wooyi 19:45, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
As I mentioned before, it is reasonably well known that Kip Kinkel suffered Mental and Emotional Abuse at the hands of his parents.
[edit] "Early Childhood" section needs editing
What does this mean:
- Kinkel's sister, a college student six years his senior, was living in Hawaii at the time.
which time? In the context, it appears to mean that she was a 12-year-old college student in Hawaii while he was six years old and in Spain. Presumably it means "at the time of the crime"?
[edit] Names should be referenced as students
It would make it more professional if the names of the people referenced made it clear that they were students, if in fact that was the case.
If I read "Joe Blow stole a gun from John Doe and gave it to Jim Smith" it reads less like an encyclopedia than someone telling a story. Who are these people?
Similarly, if I read that Kinkel "entered the school and shot Joe Blow", how do I know Joe Blow is a student, not a teacher, janitor, etc?
