From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your contributions to the coolest online encyclopedia I know of =). I sure hope you stick around; we're always in need of more people to create new articles and improve the ones we already have. You'll probably find it easiest to start with a tutorial of how the wikipedia works, and you can test stuff for yourself in the sandbox. When you're contributing, you'll probably find the manual of style to be helpful, and you'll also want to remember a couple important guidelines. First, write from a neutral point of view, second, be bold in editing pages, and third, use wikiquette. Those are probably the most important ones, and you can take a look at some others at the policies and guidelines page. You might also be interested in how to write a great article and possibly adding some images to your articles.

Be sure to get involved in the community – you can contact me at my talk page if you have any questions, and you can check out the village pump, where lots of wikipedians hang out and discuss things. If you're looking for something to do, check out the community portal. And whenever you ask a question or post something on a talk page, be sure to sign your name by typing ~~~~.

Again, welcome! It's great to have you. Happy editing! --Spangineer (háblame) 14:20, Jun 9, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:CPT 1992 logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:CPT 1992 logo.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 01:16, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Global Entertainment Productions

Are you sure about "Global Entertainment Productions GmbH & Company Medien KG" being a name for Columbia, and not a different company or a Sony division? tregoweth 22:32, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

  • That doesn't necessarily mean that Global Entertainment Productions is an alternate name for Columbia, TriStar, or another Sony division, though. I think a bit more documentation is necessary before adding assumptions to articles. tregoweth 22:49, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
    • But do you have actual evidence of this, or is this just a deduction based on watching credits? I've seen this company credited on various Sony things, so it's possible there's a connection; on the other hand, the "GmbH" means that it's a German company, which doesn't make sense. (I don't know if you're right or wrong; now I'm curious as to what exactly this company is.) tregoweth 23:17, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Global Entertainment Productions

It's the same company. SPE came up with that. I never knew what the rest stood for. I only paid attention to the name "Global Entertainment Productions". I never knew what it meant until I finally understood.

Example: Copyright (C) 1998 Global Entertainment Productions GmbH & Company Medien KG (then over to the productions logos and then TriStar Television logo, CPT, or Columbia TriStar Television logo for GEP. They all has been used except for the Merv Griffin game shows which still used their copyright credits.

Only thing you will have to do is keep learning about the name Global Entertainment Productions, because I understood why. If you don't, who knows????

Go to imdb and paste the name on search. You'll see that the name was used on V.I.P and on most Sony movies.

  • But the copyright isn't evidence of what GEB is -- if that it's a Sony division, a completely different company, or what. tregoweth 23:32, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] MPCA page

Chairboy, you've seem to have deleted the Motion Picture Corporation of America page I've created. Why? Why did you think that I edited the other information for the page from the original site? People should know about MPCA. The page has been put there for a reason.

Questions or concerns? Let me know.

King Shadeed

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! The article you created was a direct copy/paste from the MPCA webpage. That's not cool, kosher, nor allowed under the licensing of Wikipedia. If you're the person who wrote the text and control the copyright, you'd have to A. Prove who you were and B. release all rights to the text under the GFDL. This means that anyone could and would come along and edit your text. A is usually so hard that all the people willing to throw themselves at B give up. I suggest just writing an original article in Wikipedia about MPCA, seems like it's a good candidate for an article and I'm surprised it doesn't already have one. - CHAIRBOY () 04:26, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Merv Griffin

As Griffin sold Merv Griffin Productions/Entertainment to Columbia Pictures, I don't think it was his to rename. I believe that Merv Griffin Entertainment is a totally different company. tregoweth 03:05, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Merv Griffin Entertainment logos

I'm not sure if you can clean the logo; it needs to be from a higher-quality source.

You have to admit, the second one, though smaller, is a better quality image. (Nothing personal! Your screengrabs are appreciated; personally, I don't have the equipment to get anything other than DVD screenshots.) tregoweth 15:38, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] MGM 1957 lion

Hi there, what I mean by reverting your edit is that the fifth lion has been used from 1957 to the present day, and the first logo with it (with the words Metro Goldwyn Mayer) was ended in 1982 - that year, a new version was done reading MGM/UA Entertainment Co., but the same lion was kept.

So... the lion was drunk?! Do you think that fact should be added to the "Popular culture references and spoofs" section of the page, or should we just leave it? I would have loved to see that logo... Anyway, regarding the shortlived 1957 lion (the large maned lion), I am currently trying to put it onto my computer as an .mpg so I can e-mail it to you. When I do it, I'll post here first before e-mailing the logo to you. - LBM 15:48, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] hello =)

Glad to see that you're contributing! I hope my little welcome message was useful. As for this "head boss" thing, well, all I am is an administrator, which only gives me more abilities and responsibilities, not more authority. The real boss is Jimbo, and of course, the community as a whole. But anyone can welcome people—in fact, there's a welcoming committee made up of lots of different users that does just that. Hope you're enjoying yourself here on Wikipedia, and if you ever need anything, let me know! --Spangineer[es] (háblame) 16:40, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi there; just to let you know that Pawlis has finally added a screenshot of Slats to the Leo the Lion (MGM) article. It would be appreciated if you could look at the article whenever you have the chance. Thanks! LBM 00:25, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Remember me?

Hello, Shadeed

Remember me, I'm KeenRich from the CLG.

I left the group to do something else in the matter. Like Creating my own Films for logos and Designing my own logo for my Companies.

Right now, I created 11 Logo films from the Movie Maker. But if I get Premiere, I might ditch the Movie Maker for my new movie.

Later! Keenrich 00:40, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

I have a group dedicated to LSNs called FilmAudio Multimedia. I'm about to created another one on the FA movies soon.

If you want to check out my films, visit the YouTube site and search KeenRich or, go to www.myspace.com/keenrich

Later! Keenrich 02:57, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

P.S. I have to FilmAudio web page at myspace too. Here's the site: www.myspace.com/filmaudiomultimedia

It's not yet ready although I will put my films in it.
