[edit] History
Kinzie is a band from Chicago, Illinois, formed in 2005 by guitarist Nusret Hodzic and bassist, singer and songwriter Edin Keserovic. The name was derived from the street their rehearsal space is located. While the band is often classified as an Alternative, band members refuse this label, preferring to describe Kinzie's style simply as rock and roll. Kinzie's lyrics cover such topics as war, demons, abuse of power, promiscuous sex, substance abuse.
The first line-up of the band featured Edin on bass and vocals, Nusret on guitar and Sabahudin Palackic on drums. Their first gig was at a small party in a suburb of Chicago, with only few people watching the band, while the rest was getting hammered on the 2nd floor. Soon after, tensions arose, which ended with Sabahudin being fired from the band.
By the mid 2005, the band was looking for a new drummer. After some time, they came upon Katie Kirbie. Members were impressed, and she was soon drafted into the line-up. However, this was not to last, as Katie often wouldn't show up for the rehearsals, thus limiting the bands ability to do shows.
Again, the decision was made to hire a new drummer. Through an old friend, Senad, the band recruited Samir Selmic as a new and permanent drummer. After performing in and around Chicago, the band has retreated to their rehearsal space to write songs for their debut album which should be out by the end of the summer.
