Kingwell Hurdle

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kingwell Hurdle is a Grade 2 National Hunt horse race in the United Kingdom for four-year-old and above horses run over a distance of 2 miles (3,219 metres) at Wincanton Racecourse in February. There are eight hurdles to be jumped in the race.

It is an important trial race for the Champion Hurdle and Kribensis, Alderbrook and Hors La Loi III (2002) have won both the Kingwell Hurdle and the Champion Hurdle in the same year. I'm Supposin and Rhinestone Cowboy went on to finish third in the Champion Hurdle in the same year as winning this race. The 2005 winner, Inglis Drever, subsequently won the World Hurdle. Alderbrook and Azertyuiop both won the Kingwell Hurdle as novices.
