[edit] Synopsis
The King Philip Math League is an extracurricular math program offered at King Philip Regional High School. It competes with other schools in the Southern Massachusetts Mathematics League (SMML). It is widely regarded as the second best program King Philip has, following their music program. The team meets every Tuesday to discuss team strategy and learn advanced math concepts, and participates in divisional competitions on the first Thursday of every month. The King Philip Math Team competes against schools such as Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School, Mansfield High School, Attleboro High School, and Foxboro High School. Since its inception in the 2004-2005 school year, the team has consistently advanced to higher rounds of competition, having made the playoffs in each of its first two years, and even state finals in its very first year.
The 2006-2007 team looks as promising as KP's first two teams. After finishing in third place to Dighton-Rehoboth and Mansfield in their first meet of the season, the team overtook Mansfield during their second meet, leaving only Dighton-Rehoboth ahead of them in the standings. The third meet of the season will occur on January 4, 2007.
