The King George Square Busway Station is to be constructed underneath King George Square, on the lower two levels of the car park. It will form part of the Inner Northern busway in Brisbane, where it will connect the Roma Street end of the Inner Northern busway with the Queen Street Bus Station. At present, it would be within Zone 1 of the TransLink integrated public transport system.

Construction of the King George Square Busway Station commenced in early 2006, with the busway station expected to be operational by late 2007. A bus tunnel is to be constructed under Albert Street for the busway, to link the King George Square Busway Station with the Queen Street Bus Station.

[edit] National design competition

In conjunction with the establishment of the King George Square Busway Station, there is a national design competition for the redevelopment of King George Square.
