Fao Rai (Thai: เฝ้าไร่) is a minor district (King Amphoe) of Nong Khai Province, northeastern Thailand.

Neighboring districts are (from the west clockwise) Phon Phisai, Rattanawapi and So Phisai of Nong Khai Province, and Ban Muang of Sakon Nakhon Province, and Ban Dung of Udon Thani Province.

The minor district was split off from Phon Phisai district.

The district is subdivided into 5 communes (tambon), which are further subdivided into 69 villages (muban). There are no municipal (thesaban) areas, and 5 Tambon administrative organizations (TAO).
