KineticNovel (キネティックノベル Kinetikku Noberu?) is a brand of the Japanese software publishing company Visual Art's. Visual novels produced on the KineticNovel label are not done like other traditional visual novels in that no choices are given to the player to advance the story in alternate directions, and there is only one end. These visual novels are dubbed "kinetic novels" to signify that the story moves forward with almost no interaction from the player. The player can choose when to go to the next dialogue screen or put the game on autoplay and just sit back and enjoy. In this respect, the player does not play the game as if it were a video game but plays it rather more like one would play a music track on a CD or play a DVD movie. The majority of KineticNovel's products contain adult material of a sexual nature, though all-ages products are produced as well, such as Key's Planetarian: Chiisana Hoshi no Yume.

The company gets most of its sales via offering its products for download over the Internet. However, there are instances where kinetic novels will be ported to consumer consoles, as with what occurred with Planetarian when it was ported to the PlayStation 2 by Prototype.
