Kinder dieser Welt (English translation: "Children Of This World") was the Austrian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1985, performed in German by Gary Lux.Written by Mick ( Michael) Jackson, better known for penning the disco hit 'Blame it on the Boogie' in 1978.
The song was performed seventeenth on the night (following Sweden's Kikki Danielsson with Bra vibrationer and preceding Luxembourg's Margo, Franck Oliver, Diane Solomon, Ireen Sheer, Malcolm and Chris Roberts with Children, Kinder, Enfants). At the close of voting, it had received 60 points, placing 8th in a field of 19.
The song is a ballad about the innocence and power of children.
It was succeeded as Austrian representative in the 1986 Contest by Timna Brauer singing Die Zeit ist einsam.
