Kimmo Pohjonen (born August 16, 1964) is a Finnish accordionist, whose music can be said to stretch from Finnish folk music to rock and improvised avant-garde music. Among many other projects he has worked with the fiddler Arto Järvelä in the duo Pinnin Pojat. First he played only folk music, but so he couldn't get into the accordion. Sometimes, as a young guy, he was ashamed about his instrument, because Kimmo Pohjonen was famous as the country boy on the accordion. Later he tried to play classical accordion and he mixed the music with folk sounds and electronic sounds from the computer. 2002 he also worked with the sampler Samuli Kosminen, and the result was Kluster. Other projects include Animator, Pohjonen/Echampard and KTU (with Trey Gunn and Pat Mastelotto).
