[edit] congratulations
I'd like to congratulate you Kilroy on your use of edit summaries. Often many new users neglect to do this and it really helps a lot when it is done as a habit. Did you know you can even set up your preferences to remind you if you do an edit without putting in a summary? (just in case you're interested.)
I can appreciate your resistance to the naming convention for Chilean settlements, but, as you know, nobody can obligate you to use it if you don't want to.
You mention that you feel it might be discrimatory against Chile. I look at it another way: I believe it helps increase outsiders awareness of Chile, because the more often they are reminded that Chile exists as a country, the more "important" it becomes in their thinking.
I gather you are a Chilean. As such, you always want to keep in mind that Wikipedia is not written for Chileans or even spanish speaking people. It is here to help educate English speaking people and that means that we have to be careful in using Chilean ideas which might not be understood, and from an editor's viewpoint not be upset if some English oriented viewpoint doesn't work the same way in Chile.
Keep up the good work. --JAXHERE | Talk 17:51, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- I fully understand your arguments, at that's my main purpose of contributing to Wikipedia, letting foreigners know more about my birth place. I'd also like to know which way can I let Wikipedia articles feed into Google Earth layer's, is it enough to add the appropriate coordinate Google Bot visits the article? - Sorry I can't answer your question, maybe someone at the Village pump might be able to help. (I've responded to your other question on my talk page there). --JAXHERE | Talk 15:09, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
