[edit] Student life

The 500 students who currently attend Kilvington are provided opportunities such as participating in music ensembles and engaging in sports as varied as life saving or fencing. There is a particularly strong influence on music, epitomised by the new Patsy Venn Music School. In 2006, the Kilvington Madrigals were the only school choir asked to perform in the State Finals of the 'ABC Choir of the Year Competition', and came second.

Many students take part in the GSV sporting competitions. Unlike many schools, the timetabling involves classes taking up one of four large blocks in each day. However, students also take part in PPS, which stands for Personal, Physical and Social. The 30 minute PPS sessions can also be used for assemblies.

All girls take part in the house program, which involves sporting, academic and musical competitions. The houses, named after people influential in the school's history, are:

  • Barrett (Red)
  • Burman (Yellow)
  • Fethers (Blue)
  • Fysh (Green - previously known as Muriel Fysh).
