Killara High School is a coeducational government school located on Koola Avenue in East Killara, Sydney. It has 1455 students. Killara has a strong reputation in academic achievement, music, art, dance, sport, debating and strong participation in the Duke of Edinburgh Award program.
The school's mission statement is "A Great School - Close To Home".
The current principal is Dr. Elan with Mr. Ken Hopley and Mrs. Robinson serving as deputy principals.
Killara High is the top non selective government school for years 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2006 and has an outstanding HSC performance.
Subjects studied at Killara High School include english, mathematics, science, geography, history, music, sport, language - German, French, Hebrew, Chinese and Japanese and a huge range of electives.
The school has an enrolment policy which involves an area inclusive zone. Students seeking enrolment out of the area must fill out an out of area form in the school website. Suburbs in the inclusive zone include West Gordon, Gordon, East Gordon, St Ives, East Killara, Killara, West Killara, West Lindfield, Lindfield, East Lindfield and Roseville. Due to excessive enrolment numbers, enrolment is hard with the school currently at full capacity.
The Indian Staff warmly welcome students to learn punjabi. Teachers include Miss Gupta, Mrs Karunaka and Ms Karen Troll.
