Kigoma

Kigoma is a town in western Tanzania, on the eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika and close to the border with Burundi. It serves as the capital for the surrounding Kigoma Region and has a population of 130,142 (2002 census).

Ferries sail from Kigoma to Bujumbura in Burundi, Mpulungu at the southern tip of the lake, and Ujiji a short distance to the south of Kigoma.
