From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi.

I'm here because I like information — and I like that information communicated as quickly and clearly as possible. I just peruse the various articles available here according to what suits my interest, and if it looks like I could help make an article better, I do. I'm glad to be here and I look forward to making this website as good as it possibly can be. If you have any questions, comments or criticisms for me, please leave them on my talk page.

I recently graduated college and am currently looking to work as a journalist or editor. I live in California, and my interests include news, etymology, photography, painting and pop culture — whether that be music, movies, TV or video games.

[edit] Contributions

According to Kate's Tool, I have made the following number of edits, as of August 8, 2006:

  • 670 total edits
  • 25 image uploads, 16 of which are still currently posted
  • 9 deleted edits

Kate's Tool also tells me that I have edited 257 distinct pages and that my first edit was on May 23, 2005.

The first page I ever started for the Wikipedia is the one for the Daily Nexus, my college paper. The effort met with some resistance, however, when a few Wikipedia users felt the article had no place on the site. Logic won out, it seems, and my contribution remains. Since then, I have also started the following pages:

Although I have not started the following articles, I have contributed significantly to them:

An odd mix, I know, but that's just where my Wikipedia browsing has led me so far.

[edit] My Wikipedia landmarks

  • On Friday, January 20, 2006, I added my 1000th page to my watchlist. (By the way, the page in question was the list of interesting or unusual place names).
  • On January 23, 2006, user Melchoir referenced a a blog entry I wrote about Joan Didion's rather critical take on Thomas Kinkade. He linked from Kinkade's talk page to my blog. The link has generated a surprising amount of traffic ever since.
  • On January 26, 2006, the article on Cho Aniki, which I started, was added by Deadkid dk to the Wikipedia entry for unusual articles. I'm happy to say that a large part of the text I originally wrote still remains on the page.
  • On July 1, 2006, I found that the Wikipedia article on the Nintendo characters the Axem Rangers plagiarized a guide to the characters in the Mario game series. A huge chunk of text was taken from the guide and re-printed by the Wikipedia user Ciotti without my permission. I had never been a victim of plagiarism before. It's almost flattering in a backhanded kind of way. The matter has yet to be resolved.
