[edit] KiddoNet

KiddoNet is touted as a "fun, safe, Internet for kids." It is targeted at kids ages 7-12 years old. KiddoNet also offers KiddoNet Jr. which is targeted at kids ages 3-7. KiddoNet was conceived in 1996 and has been in operation since early 1997. KiddoNet is a subsidiary of Gteko Ltd.

Pros, Cons, and the Chatter Box

KiddoNet is supposedly a place where youngsters can mingle and have fun without dangers normally associated with the Internet, such as annoying advertisements, shadowy chat characters, and the like. But, in the quest to alleviate peril, the website has actually become a rather boring place. The games are all either sponsored by such companies as Wonka Candy Company and Girlsense.com, or entirely low-quality. The "Chatter Box" section of the site is divided into three "rooms": Friends, Sports, and Music. In the chatroom, users are only allowed to say pre-programmed, innocuous phrases, such as "Help, I'm bored," "Do you like wrestling?" and "I can't trust anyone anymore." The chatroom is also chaperoned by a bandana-wearing matron known as Host.

[edit] GirlSense

GirlSense is a newly free website, which is less boring than KiddoNet. As a GS Member, you can open a boutique and 'sell' clothes in exchange for 'GCents'. You can post on a few boards, however everything is monitered. Similar to KN, there are no outside ads. There are boutique ads, which when clicked direct you to the boutique.
