Kidd Kraddick

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kidd Kraddick was born David Cradick in Napoleon, Ohio, USA. He moved with his family and to Florida at a young age and began his radio career at the age of 18 in the Tampa Bay Area on the legendary Q105 which featured the original "Zoo" format. Kraddick is a popular radio personality based in Dallas, Texas that hosts the nationally syndicated radio show, "Kidd Kraddick in the Morning".

He is happily married to Carol Cradick, and they have a daughter, Caroline. Both are regular participants in the show, periodically calling in and certainly serving as fodder for Kidd's stories. Caroline dreams of becoming a Broadway performer, and her father takes every opportunity of supporting her endeavors.

Kraddick is also regularly teased for being a sensitive man who enjoys activities not usually considered to be manly. Kidd regularly expresses interest in manicures, pedicures, and body care, for example, and he has apparently waxed the space between his eyebrows before. Conversely, Kidd is also an avid sports fan and usually attends games with Al Mack.

"Kidd Kraddick in the Morning" also attracts an array of performing talent. Kidd was an influence in launching Jessica Simpson, since she had a relationship with the show as a Texas singer and performer. Young performers are regular guests on the show. Phone interviews are also important parts of the show, and many influential and popular guests have gained exposure across the country through Kidd Kraddick.

Mel Gibson, for example, famously commented on Kraddick's show in December 2006 that he would not comment on his father's controversial views because father and son do not comment on each other. It was during this interview that Gibson's call was also disconnected, prompting Kraddick and his crew to briefly panic. However, the interview continued as scheduled a few minutes later, and Gibson was amiable and talkative.

Other phone interviewees have included Jeremy Piven, Harry Connick Jr., Borat (or, Sacha Baron Cohen), and Barry Manilow (one of Kraddick's personal heroes).

Guests - both musical and otherwise - also often stop by the Kidd Kraddick studio in Dallas, Texas. Ben Folds, Carlos Mencia, Nick Lachey, Kevin Federline, Timbaland, James Blunt, and Justin Timberlake have visited the studios in recent months.

Kraddick has been recognized several times during his career for excellence in broadcasting. He was awarded radio's prestigious Marconi Award as radio personality of the year. Additionally, Kraddick was also named Best Radio Personality by the WB Radio Music Awards.

"Kidd Kraddick in the Morning" was born more than twenty years ago as a local radio program, and has survived through numerous cast changes. However, the two longest-running cast members are Kellie Rasberry and Big Al Mack. The three have often stuck together despite numerous characters over the years.

Kidd Kraddick voices a number of characters on the show. He makes extensive use of voice altering technology in improvising many characters as they come up during show discussions. Besides that, Kraddick regularly lends his vocal talent to the "Mommy Test," in which he plays "Pooladsanj Pooladsanj" (or, "Poo Poo"), the fictional son of Kellie Rasberry. More recently, Kidd is playing "Wally," a self-loving Wal-mart cashier in the new bit "Somebody's Hot for Wally."

The show, co-hosted by Big Al Mack, Kellie Rasberry, JC, and Taylor Glover is broadcast from 5-10am CST on weekday mornings and is nationally syndicated in 49 markets.
