Kia Abdullah (1982 - ) is a British-Asian author. She has written one novel, Life, Love and Assimilation, published in 2006.
Abdullah was born and raised in Tower Hamlets in East London. She graduated from Queen Mary, University of London with a BSc degree in Computer Science in 2003 and went on to work at a medical research centre.
Touted by many as a younger, rawer Monica Ali, her novel has been compared to bestseller Brick Lane because each book follows the story of a Bangladeshi woman growing up in London.[1] Abdullah has been described as a fresh voice of modern Asian British society, in part due to her openness regarding sexual themes.[2] She cites Jodi Picoult, Sharon Maas and Mario Puzo amongst her favourite authors.
