Khwaeng

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Khwaeng (Thai: แขวง) are the subdivision of the 50 districts of Bangkok. Altogether there are currently 154 khwaeng, which are roughly equivalent to the tambon in the other provinces of Thailand.

Historically, in some region of the country the subdivision of the provinces (mueang) were named khwaeng, while in others they were named Amphoe. The administrative reforms at the beginning of the 20th century unified the naming to be Amphoe.
