A section of Baj Khedawal Gujarati Brahmins Migrated to Panna in present Madhya Pradesh during the reign of Bundela King Chhatrasal (1649-1731) whose capital was Panna. The migration is said to be from south India which is corraborated by the fact that Khedawal Brahmins are still settled in Chhenai, Hyderabad and Kanjivaram and other places of South India. This Migration is said to be related to diamond mines in Panna. The diamond is still found in Panna. Later these people migrated to Bhainsa and Hatta in Damoh district of present Madhya Pradesh State during British period and owned agricultural lands. During last century many Baj Khedawal Gujarati Brahmins after getting education have joined government service and other professions. Very few of them are farmers. Many of them have migrated to other parts of India and abroad.
