Khalid Sinouh (born 2 May 1975 in Amsterdam) is a Moroccan-Dutch professional football goalkeeper who currently plays for AZ Alkmaar. He previously played for RKC Waalwijk and Omonia Nicosia. He has been capped for the Moroccan national team.
[edit] Biography
He deputed playing for HFC Haarlem in the second highest level of the Netherlands at the age of 19 in the 1994/95 season. After three seasons playing for Haarlem Sinouh, he signed for Eerste divisie club, SC Heerenveen in 1997, however not successfull since he played only in one match in one and a half year. RKC Waalwijk became Sinouh's new club at the middle of 1998-99 season. The Morrocan keeper got tired as he was the second keeper of the team behind the experienced Rob van Dijk and for two seasons he had no appearances. After years in the bench, he played again in the season 2000/2001 having three appearances.
The two seasons that followed, Sinouh took his chance by proving that he a trustworthy position- as Rob van Dijk was. Between 2001 and 2003, the doelman played 23 matches. By the tansfer of Rob van Dijk to PSV in the summer of 2003, it was then an easy choice of the club to promote Sinouh as the first goalkeeper of the squad. In the season 2003/2004, Sinouh played 33 league matches and the following season 34 and he proved that he was a skillfull goalkeeper.
The goal keeper of the national team of Morocco refused the summer of 2005 to extend the contract with RKC Waalwijk. Sinouh wanted to play out of the Netherlands and for that reason he rejected offers of NEC Nijmegen and NAC Breda. However he didn't achieve to agree with any club and for six months he was unemployed. At the beginning of 2006, he agreed with one of the best teams of Cyprus, Omonia Nicosia and played in 11 matches. However a bad game he had in his last appearance with his team, he was not used again until the end of the season where he finished his career in Cyprus, since he was not needed by Omonia.
He signed for the AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2006. At the beginning of the 2006/07 season, he was not playing in the first six matches, however the injure of his first team's goalkeeper Joey Didulica, gave him the chance to gain the first keeper position and to help his team in their effort for winning the second position. He also did his depute in European competitions, playing with Alkmaar in the UEFA Cup groups.
