Key Motorsports is a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team owned by Curtis W. Key, Sr. and Rodney Rogers. Key Motorsports first competed in the NASCAR Busch Series from 1995 to 1999. In 2003, Key Motorsports re-entered the racing world in the Truck Series, running their first full series in 2006. The season started slowly, with the team failing to qualify for five of the first seven races, yet qualifying for last 17 straight races. Although Key Motorsports initially operated out of Mooresville, North Carolina, the team moved to Chesapeake, Virginia to be closer to Curtis Key Sr.'s plumbing business. In 2006, Key purchased land in Mooresville to create the Mooresville Performance Park, where the team has 16,000 square feet of workspace. Shane Huffman is the team's current driver with Barry Dodson serving as crew chief. In 2007, the team will race trucks displaying their traditional #40, as well as fielding a second truck displaying #44. The second truck will mainly be used sparingly to get new drivers "seat time" at a few tracks.
The team is expected to compete with Huffman and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series rookie Clay Rogers in 2007, with veteran [Mike Bliss] driving the first four races.
