Kew railway line, Melbourne

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kew railway line was a former railway line in Melbourne, Australia. The line ran from Hawthorn to Kew. It opened in 1887 and closed in 1957 due to competition from trams. Besides Hawthorn Station there were two other stations on the line; Barker Station was located near the south-east corner of Barkers Road and Power Street, and Kew Station was located near the south-east corner of Wellington Street and Denmark Street. Most of the railway formation between Wellington St and Barkers Rd is now used as a carpark by VicRoads.
