KEWU

KEWU, also known as Jazz 89.5, is a non-commercial Contemporary jazz outlet serving the Spokane, Washington area. The station, which is run by Eastern Washington University, went on the air on April 7, 1950 as KEWC, a 10 watt AM station, before moving to the FM Band in the late 1960s. Today KEWU broadcasts at 89.5 MHz with an effective radiated power of 10 kW.
KEWU was named the 2005 Best Small Market Jazz station by Jazz Week magazine and Program Director Elizabeth Farriss was named Best Small Market Jazz Programmer for 2005.
KEWU is also home to Eastern Washington University Eagles athletic teams broadcasts.
