Kevin Thornton, (born July 9, 1986), is an Irish footballer currently playing for Coventry City in the English Football League Championship.

A promising midfielder and product of the Sky Blues' Academy, Thornton was given a squad number for the first time in the 2005/06 season following a productive pre-season in which he was included on the trips to Ibiza and Ireland. Thornton showed a lot of potential indicating he may well become a key player for Coventry when given his chance last term, and is already becoming a fans' favourite due to his exciting style of play, his aggression, and the fact he has come through the Coventry youth system.

Thornton looks likely to get more games for the Sky Blues and develop his potential further this season whilst trying to secure a regular first team place.

Thornton is the younger brother of former Sunderland player Sean Thornton.

He scored his first goal for Coventry against struggling Hull City with a mazy run and a brilliant finish showing his premiership suitors what talent he does have.
