Kevin Ray Underwood, born December 19, 1979 [1], is an accused murderer from Purcell, Oklahoma, USA.

Authorities had sought a missing 10-year-old girl, Jamie Rose Bolin, for whom an Amber Alert had been issued. Underwood, who lived near Jamie Bolin in the same apartment complex, was arrested April 17, 2006, and Bolin's corpse, stashed in a large plastic container, was recovered from his bedroom closet.

Purcell Police said in a press conference that Underwood had admitted to FBI agents and Oklahoma detectives that he had murdered and attempted to decapitate Bolin, and that he told them, "Go ahead and arrest me. She is in there. I chopped her up." When asked about the alleged crime, Purcell Police Chief David Tompkins surmised, "this appears to have been part of a plan to kidnap a person, rape them, torture them, kill them, cut off their head, drain the body of blood, rape the corpse, eat the corpse, then dispose of the organs and bones."

Despite this alleged plan, police said he had not in fact "chopped her up" yet, but had only tried to cut her neck. Underwood is alleged to have bludgeoned Bolin to death with a wooden cutting board. Police stated that they found meat tenderizer and barbeque skewers at the scene, which they presume were intended for use on the alleged victim. [2]

Internet sleuthing has found that Underwood was active online for several years. He played online adventure games and wrote in his blogger.com blog.[3] The blog was entitled "Strange Things Are Afoot At The Circle K", a reference to the film Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. After his arrest, the news media reported that he was joking about cannibalism in reference to a question listed in his blogger profile, although the question he answered was in fact a "random quirky question" generated automatically by Blogger.com. Kevin's Yahoo / Gmail account name was: SubSpecies23, and sometimes KUnderw674 which were the online identities that he used on various Internet sites. For a period in 2002 and 2003, he seems to have been involved with the online discussion groups of the Church of the SubGenius [1], but Rev. Ivan Stang of that church has denied any true connection between Underwood and the group [2]. In a controversial move, Louisiana House Representative Roy A. Burrell recently attempted to link one of the online games Underwood played, Kingdom of Loathing, with his actions.[3]
