Kevin Maher (born October 17, 1976 in Ilford, London) a footballer who is the current captain of Southend United. Though born in London, he is eligible to play for the Republic of Ireland. Maher is a tough central midfielder. He began his career as a trainee at Tottenham Hotspur, but was released without ever playing for the first team. He joined Southend in 1998, and is the team's longest-serving player.
