At Jones High School in Orlando, Florida, Lewis lettered in football, basketball, and track.

Lewis attended Duke University. As a senior, he had 76 tackles. As a junior, he had two sacks and 78 tackles.

in 2005 kevin lewis donated $1,000 to Jones High School to build a new gym. he attended the first basketball game in the gym which was jones high v.s. timber creek. and during halftime was awarded a key to the city.
