Kevin, Irish Caoimhín (old Irish Caoimhghín or Caemgen), is a male first name of Irish origin. It is believed that Saint Kevin was the one who popularized the name, although Kevin is not a biblical name. Kevin means "adorable (attractive) or gentle one".^[1] Kevin shares no ancestry to Kelvin or Calvin.^{[citation needed]}

The name Kevin has been in France's top 100 baby names since 1980.^{[citation needed]}
