Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School is a Lutheran high school in the Jackson Township, Wisconsin. The school is affiliated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). Its athletic teams are named the Chargers. The focus of the school is, as the motto states, "Empowered by God's Word, Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School educates, encourages, and equips God's people for life and for eternity.," with a clear emphasis on conservative Christian Scriptures. The school is currently fundraising to add an Auditorium, as part of the next phase in construction. More information concerning the academics and conservative Lutheran doctrines which run the school can be found on the school website.

[edit] Extracurricular activities

The cheerleading program was named 2005 Division I Large State Champions. The varsity cheer team was the Division III Large Regional Champions from 2003 through 2006 and was the State Champions in 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006.[1]

[edit] Athletics

Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School has a mediocre athletic program. Sports such as swimming, tennis, and lacrosse are not offered due to land and building restrictions. The next phase in construction sidesteps the need for better sports programs and instead addresses the sub-par music and art programs by adding an auditorium for musical and choral concerts, as well as daily chapels, which are currently held in the school's old gym.

The girls volleyball team won back-to-back Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association state championships in 2002, 2003 and 2004.[2][3] The 2002-2004 streak by the girls volleyball team makes it one of onely five teams in teh state to have won consecutive championships in three years.[4] The girls volleyball team won the 1988 Wisconsin independent schools Class B championship, taking the round robin competition with a 4-2 record to end Marinette Catholic Central's streak of four consecutive championships.[5]

The girls basketball team won consecutive Wisconsin Independent Schools Athletic Association Class B girls championships in 1990 and 1991. The team defeated Beloit Catholic High School on March 1, 1991, to win their second consecutive title.[6]

The following are the sports available:

[edit] Waste water treatment

In 2001, the school built an artificial wetland for waste water management.[7][8] In March 2003, a $9,700 grant from Toyota Motor Sales was received to install a windmill to aerate the wetlands, potentially increasing the facility's effectiveness. The experimental facility is the first of its kind among schools of the upper midwest.[9] The school calls the system "The Green Machine" and uses it as an environmental educational opportunity allowing the school's EcoClub to assist in its development and maintenance.
