Ketchikan Gateway Borough is a borough located in the U.S. state of Alaska. As of the 2000 census, the population is 14,070. The borough seat is Ketchikan.

The borough has a total area of 4,543 km² (1,754 mi²). 3,194 km² (1,233 mi²) of it is land and 1,349 km² (521 mi²) of it (29.69%) is water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 14,070 people, 5,399 households, and 3,633 families residing in the borough. The population density was 4/km² (11/mi²). There were 6,218 housing units at an average density of 2/km² (5/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough was 74.34% White, 0.50% Black or African American, 14.99% Native American, 4.29% Asian, 0.16% Pacific Islander, 0.44% from other races, and 5.29% from two or more races. 2.64% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. 3.31% reported speaking Tagalog at home, while 1.65% speak Spanish [1].
There were 5,399 households out of which 36.80% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.50% were married couples living together, 11.30% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.70% were non-families. 26.10% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.20% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 3.10.
In the borough the population was spread out with 28.20% under the age of 18, 7.50% from 18 to 24, 31.40% from 25 to 44, 25.10% from 45 to 64, and 7.90% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 104.50 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 105.30 males.
