Kerry South (Dáil Éireann constituency)

Kerry South is a constituency represented by three Teachtaí Dála (TDs) in Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Oireachtas. As of 2005, the constituency has an electorate of 51,761. The method of election is the Single Transferable Vote. The constituency is located in the southern half of County Kerry, Ireland, taking in Killarney, Caherciveen and Kenmare.
It was established by the Electoral (Revision of Constituencies) Act 1935 (No. 5/1935) joining Kerry North in succeeding the Kerry constituency. It was first used in the 1937 General election electing Members of the 9th Dáil.
The most high profile TD in the constituency is the current Minister for Arts, Sport & Tourism, John O'Donoghue. Another colourful politician from the area is the Independent deputy Jackie Healy-Rae.
