Keperra is a suburb in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia which is located approximately 9 kilometres north-west of the CBD. It has a deep and rich history, with some thinking that the name was based upon the Aboriginal term for “Kipper” (a young tribe member who has reached initiation age).
1865 saw the first sale of land in Keperra and the suburb grew from there. In 1918 the Keperra train station was built and by 1940 there was a military camp established, to build road and develop land for housing.
By 2001, the population was estimated at 7276.
The suburb boasts a golf course, shopping centre, churches, a hospital, dog off- leash area and two railway stations and bus services. From 1966 to 2000 there was a drive-in movie theatre located on the site which is now Kings Grove Estate.
